After relocating north of the border to Scotland, talented midfielder Joe Wylie is back in the local area and has decided to join the Yellows’. Wylie is English born, but of Scottish descent.

The skilful 22 year old had been playing in a good level of football in Scotland with Gala
Fairydean Rovers in Lowland League East, which feeds directly into the SFL(Scottish Football League).
Speaking of his time with Gala, he observed;
“It was good, I was up there for three years. It’s different up there, they’re very physical, fit players. It’s more technical down here, but yeah I learnt a lot. I think you need that as a player, to go through different situations.”
He initially signed for Hawick Legion in the 2023/24 season, before earning a move to Gala for the following campaign. Although that only tells us a little about his backstory.
Whilst barely 16, he played for Wellington in the Western League and also represented Devon Under 18's. An attendee at Exeter College Sports Academy, Wylie established himself in the first team at Wellington and caught the attention of David Steele at Willand.
Wylie cited his reasons for returning back to the area and the influence that first team coach David Steele had on his decision to come to Tivvy ,when saying;

“All of my mates are down here. I grew up down here and have spent most of my life here and after three years I thought I’d give it a shot on my own
Steeley is a big factor as to why I kind of chose here. He looked after me when I was a lot younger than I am now.”
The bright, attack minded prospect made 15 appearances in this division for Willand and scored 4 goals. Discussing what the fans can expect he commented;
“I’m quite a good team player, quite unselfish. I’ll do the running for other players. I kind of just pride myself on just keeping the ball, being tidy on the ball. Nothing too flairy, just doing the simple things.”
Additionally he had a spell when 17, with Thame United in Southern League Central Division 1.
A warm welcome Joe!
