Long-term target Slough becomes new signing Number Three!

Established and cultured Central Defender Louie Slough who has been on the Yellows’ radar for a number of seasons, has committed himself to Tiverton this term. In doing so he becomes the second new face and third new arrival that the management team has got over the line.

Louie met up with the media team to discuss his move and what has brought him to Ladysmead and alluded to a few good reasons, in saying;

“First of all it's a big club, second of all I've got a very strong relationship with Asa.” He continued, “I was very close to joining in previous seasons, but this season feels like a good time for me and that's what has brought me here.” 

The 25 year old who spent Three formative years as a young Pro with Torquay United, has spent the last two and a bit season's in the heart of Bideford's defence and is a strong performer and a big signing at this level. 

Although, it was with Dorchester in the Southern League Premier South that he cemented his impressive reputation. Two loan spells in Dorset when Slough was with the Gulls, persuaded the Magpies to acquire him permanently on his release from Torquay ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Midway through the following campaign and with an aggregate of 65 games under his belt, he transferred to then National League South side Taunton.The Somerset side's well documented financial difficulties then, meant he moved on to Bideford.

The experienced technical defender was both ambitious and realistic when talking about his hopes for the team and for himself and stated;

“I know that last season was a tricky one for you guys. So, moving forward it's sustainability and being a successful one for the club, behind the scenes and on the Pitch. Personally I want to be back to my best and I feel that Asa can bring the best out of me.”

Including an earlier loan stint, he played over 100 times for the North Devon club and overall is close to 200 appearances in senior football.

Describing himself as a player and his attributes, he said;

“I like to think I'm good in the air, I'm quite good on the ball and have got good distribution”.

The left sided, 6ft 2 inch centre back can also operate as a full back and is based in the Torbay area, where he runs his own football coaching business.
