The Yellows are back! Having started to blow out the cobwebs and dust off the boots, Tiverton will return to pre-season action with a testing game away at Hellenic League side Roman Glass, in the Bristol suburb of Almondsbury on Saturday.
With many new faces and a decent core of last year’s squad in place, Asa Hall and his coaching team will be casting an early eye over the playing staff. All important minutes in the tank, as they take their first steps towards building up to match fitness and forming understandings on the pitch will be central to this first outing.
Asa Hall, Matt Wood, Corey Koerner, Jack Kennell, Jacob Wellington, Ryan Keates and Aiden Horne, all remain from the last campaign and they are joined by;
Louis Smith(GK), centre backs: Louie Slough and Steve Walker, full backs: Lewis Flowers and Finn Hodge, midfielders: Cole Harford, Joe Wylie and Billy Tucker and Striker: Owen Howe.
At this stage of preparations full availability may not be possible and triallists will also be part of team selections. There are bound to be further additions to the squad before the competitive fixtures begin and for the fans it will be a chance to familiarise themselves with the new players in Tivvy colours.
Our hosts Roman Glass St George, to give the club their full title are the oldest Bristol football club and were founded as Bristol St George in 1872. Sometimes referred to as just St George, it was in 1991 that they merged with Roman Glass to become known as the club they are today.
Last term they were runners up in the Hellenic League. With the Yellows relegation, their opponents are only a division below and this should prove an excellent work out for both sides.
Play Off elimination at the semi final stage to Play Off winners Worcester Raiders, means their victors will be League opponents of ours, in the 2026/27 season. The Glass quickly put their promotion disappointment behind them, by ending their campaign with a 4-0 Gloucestershire Fa County Cup final win against Stonehouse.
Manager Tony Beecham has seen his assistant Josh Egan depart ahead of pre-season, but notable ex EFL man Chris Lines has now been installed as joint manager of the team and the former Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers playmaker also intends to continue in a playing capacity.

Although, aside from having the calibre of someone like Lines to call upon, last season they had gifted midfielder 23 year old Joe Budd, a former Welsh under 17, 18 and 19 international in their team.
A young pro at Bristol Rovers, Budd’s career has also seen him play over a half century of games for Taunton and nearly 100 times for Frome. Veteran winger, the wily Joe McLennan had a successful career higher up the football pyramid. Ports of call include Chippenham and Weston Super Mare.
Forward Harvey Tierney is an influential performer for the Glass. Regularly amongst the Goals, the contributions from the former 24 year old Bristol Manor Farm player are often telling.
35 year old striker Neikell Plummer is from a football playing family and also three of his four brothers are often seen on the sofa, in TV's Gogglebox. His other brother Dwayne played for both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers in the EFL.
Goggleboxer Tristan, a former England youth international, also spent time in the EFL with Luton, Hereford and Gillingham. Target man Neikell has carved out a decent non League career himself, playing for the likes of; Yate, Melksham, Clevedon and Corsham. He is another Bristol Rovers academy product.
It will be an interesting match up at the weekend, in what will be a first return to action for both sides since the conclusion of their contrasting 2025/26 campaigns.
