Open Letter From Witheridge AFC
Last Saturday, we exited the Emirates FA Cup in frustrating fashion but there was so much to be positive about. From the performance against higher league opposition, the team spirit and feel around the club to the positive influence the men's squad had on local youth side Witheridge AFC Warriors.
We might be called Tiverton Town Football Club but we hold a deep love for Mid-Devon and the surrounding communties and clubs that make the game so special. After all, the people are what makes football the beautiful game.
Witheridge AFC Warriors were our mascots for the game and we recieved a delightful message which we hope will warm the hearts of the Tivvy faithful, just like it has ours.
Message from Witheridge AFC:
"On behalf of everyone at Witheridge AFC 'warriors', I would like to say a huge thank you for such a fantastic mascot day.
The children had an absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. From arriving at the ground and being welcomed, to meeting the first-team players and having the opportunity to walk out onto the pitch alongside the teams, it was a really special experience for them.
A particular highlight was the opportunity for the children to collect signatures from the players. One of our young players was disappointed when his pen wasn't working properly and he wasn't able to get the signatures he wanted. Captain Matt Wood very kindly stepped in and arranged for the whole team to sign another team sheet for him. It was a relatively small gesture, but it meant a huge amount to one of our young Warriors and was a lovely example of the way your players engaged with the children.
We would also like to give a massive thank you to Jason, who met us at the turnstiles and looked after us throughout the day. He was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making sure everything ran smoothly and that both the children and parents had a really enjoyable and pleasurable experience. His efforts were very much appreciated.
Please also pass on our thanks to Matt Wood, the first-team players and everyone else involved in making the afternoon so enjoyable.
For a grassroots youth football club like ours, opportunities such as this create memories that the children will remember for a long time. It was fantastic to see their excitement and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Thank you once again to everyone at Tiverton Town for making us feel so welcome. We really appreciate it and hope to see you again in the future"
